The Reason for the Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Or so the song says. The truth is, the Christmas season can be challenging and wonderful at the same time. Many are excited, anticipating a wonderful time with family and friends. Many are stressed, worried and over extended, trying to buy too many gifts for too many people. Some are stressed because they cannot afford to buy gifts at all. Others are grieving and sad, experiencing Christmas without the presence of someone dear. Wherever you are, whatever your story, I pray that God’s grace and mercy will surround you. I pray that you slow down long enough to allow the light of God’s love to fill your heart with joy. I pray that even in sorrow, you find the strength that God’s Spirit provides to give thanks for that someone so dear to you. I pray that you remember the faithfulness of God amidst the uncertainties of life. I pray that you remember it’s not about the gifts you buy but the gift we have all received. I pray that Jesus truly becomes the reason for this Christmas season.
“For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders, and he I named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6).

Merry Christmas
