Our Church Working Together

For Spiritual Growth

40 days of Prayer, Sacrifice, and Blessings

As we prepared for the Lenten Season, we were called to sacrifice $1 a day for forty days and donate the money to provide food for the food insecure in our church’s neighborhood. We did so and prayed. God truly blessed our efforts.  We gave $3,625.

Those gifts provided 50, not our goal of 40, muck buckets, not baskets, filled to the brim with food, with extra on the side, for our neighbors in need. We partnered with our nearest school to identify the 50 families. The counselor at the school said, “What a great way to build bridges with the community!” We are excited to have completed a step in that direction for New World Church. Those who delivered food returned with stories of gratitude not only from the recipients but for their own experience of mission. Easter Blessings to all involved.

Below, is a list of the gifted food.
Each 70 qt. Muck Tub contained:

Dinner Ham, 10# Pancake mix, 20 cans of vegetables, dried beans (4 pkg/1lb), 15 ham bean Soup Mix, 12 fresh baked dinner rolls, Box of Instant Potatoes, Pkg. Spanish Rice, 2- White long grain rice Can of Chili, 4-Spaghetti & 2 Jars of sauce, loaf bread, Qt. of Peanut Butter, Jar Grape Jelly, Cornbread Mix, 2 bags of Easter Candy.

There were also miscellaneous canned goods added to each tub. Six families had more than 8 in the household, and they received an extra box of food.
