Let Us Pray
Friends,
I hope you are safe and well as we continue to shelter at home during this time. I want you to know that I miss seeing you! While we have made every effort to maintain our connection online, it is not quite the same as being able to meet personally. I am grateful for the technology that helps us maintain our connection. I know that some Sunday School Classes and small groups are meeting on conference call or on Zoom and I want to encourage you to keep it up. If you would like to connect with a class or group please let me know and we will make it happen. I have been praying for you, praying for our church and community and for our world. I am specifically praying about how we are to engage in ministry in this very unusual time. The one thing that keeps coming to my mind and heart is that we need to pray together. I know we are all praying, I have seen the prayer requests that are sent out and that is wonderful. I believe what I am discerning for this season is the need for our church to pray together. I believe as we do this, we will get a greater sense of where God is leading us. I am inviting you to gather with me for church wide prayer by conference call on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:30 p.m. You will be invited to share a word of prayer on this call. It can be a written prayer, a one sentence prayer, or if you are not quite ready to pray aloud, a silent prayer. I strongly believe God is calling us to pray together. In Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge, Mark Batterson says, “the purpose of prayer is not to get what you want; the goal of prayer is to discern what God wants, what God wills.” Please join me as we pray together as a congregation of faith so that we may discern God’s direction, God’s will, and God’s heart. Let us pray.
