Friends, it is that time of year when summer winds down, school starts, and we head into the fall. We are in transition in many ways in our lives and as a congregation. By faith, we continue to move towards becoming a Modern, Christ-Centered Community. So, what’s next? How do we discern where God is leading? What should our next steps be? Prayerfully, I have some thoughts to share about where I believe God is leading us. In June we walked through a section of our community and prayed for homes and families. We will venture out again with a second prayer walk later this month. When we connect with our community through prayer, we open avenues for God to move in wondrous ways. We must shift our focus to the world that God loves and has called us to serve. Then, friends we need an emphasis on mentoring. Equipping and empowering new leaders is essential if the church is to move faithfully into the future. We have a wealth of leadership experience that needs to be shared. We must develop principled Christian leaders for the next generation. Finally, we will look at ways to operate more efficiently in our administrative process. The single-board model has been helping churches in our conference have greater impact and effectiveness in ministry. We will have opportunity to dialogue about this more in the days ahead. While this seems like a lot to accomplish, scripture reminds us that Christ strengthens us for the journey. We really can do all that God calls us to do. Let’s be prayerful together as by faith we take these next steps.
Grace & Peace,
